Les fleurs de tilleul, une mine de trésors pour la peau

Linden flowers, a mine of treasures for the skin

A magnificent vintage

The linden flowers , these little marvels of delicacy of a sunny golden yellow, with incredible olfactory power , have finally bloomed. They are supported by more than a hundred linden trees almost two centuries old , whose branches bend under the armfuls of flowers ! An abundant vintage , because the trees having suffered from water stress last summer and winter, they reacted by producing even more flowers, and therefore fruits, to ensure their descendants in the event that these stresses recur. What fascinating intelligence of the plant ...!

Their picking, entirely by hand , began at the end of June. A centuries-old gesture in our family estate in Dordogne , cradle of TiL: reach into the tree, delicately grasp the barely opened flowers, become intoxicated with their scent, and feel their fabulous soothing force... then start again endlessly until they fill their baskets with tens of kilos, used fresh to restore all their molecular integrity . Because if we let them dry, they lose a good part of their activity. So of course, it's more complicated because as soon as they are picked, they have to be frozen and then transported by refrigerated truck to the place of extraction by biotechnology, but that's the price of efficiency 😊

Around fifteen people for at least a week pick everything that is within reach, then a ladder, and climber pickers climb to the top of the trees to pick the inaccessible and bring a rain of gold to the ground...

A treasure for the skin

Concentrated with benefits , linden flowers make up our exclusive active ingredient, Tiliactiv4®, combined with leaves, buds and branches . They are particularly full of sugars, hydrating polysaccharides , and flavonoids, antioxidants.

Amazing how these slender flowers can be endowed with such powers, and such a delicious scent, a true Proust madeleine for many! They release nectar, which bees love, which gather from morning to evening. Just by their sound, we know that the tree is in flower, just by the smell too, a real feast for the senses !

The lime tree is sometimes called the bee tree because it produces so much nectar . This one, full of sugar, drips onto the leaves, which become sticky. This shows how intense its hydrating power is !

As a star in our dry oil

These flowers are maximized in L’Huile Qui Enchante, our Beautifying & Nourishing Dry Oil , for the face, body and hair. A real restorative and beautifying treatment , based on an oily macerate of silver linden flowers in camelina oil , accompanied by firming white lupine .

It enhances, hydrates, nourishes and regenerates , while exuding a divine, floral, sensual and addictive fragrance. A joyful and comforting olfactory emotion , which takes you under an avenue of flowering lime trees.

Multi -purpose , this enchanted oil is an essential “Swiss army knife” in a summer suitcase:

  • A restorative treatment, it works miracles on skin dried out by exposure to the sun, wind and sea.
  • Tan enhancing treatment , it satinizes the skin and restores its elasticity.
  • Hair care , it works wonders on hair damaged by summer: suppleness, shine, easy styling. Leave on overnight, or 1 hour before shampooing. Or a few drops added to the conditioner. Or after drying, for a shiny finish...
  • A fragrant treatment, it adorns skin and hair with a sunny, tender and luminous note.

Linden flowers, a pure culinary delight

Everything about the linden tree is edible , a tree of incredible abundance, but the flowers are particularly delicious as a calming herbal tea, especially when they are fresh: try an iced summer infusion of freshly picked linden flowers, it's a real treat !.

But not only that, they deliciously flavor salads and desserts : creams, madeleines, cakes, shortbread. And the ultimate, the linden blossom jelly that our grandmother made for our snacks, this famous jelly which inspired the incredible texture of our Cleansing and Makeup Remover Gel, "La Gelée à Fleur de Peau".

We entrust you with its recipe , it will delight adults and children because its taste is so subtle and delicate:

Place the linden blossoms in a saucepan and cover with water.
Boil for 20 minutes, then leave to infuse for a quarter of an hour, and filter.

Then add the sugar and lemon juice, bring to the boil while stirring and cook for 5 minutes, then add the agar agar and let boil for 3 minutes.

All you have to do is fill your previously sterilized jars with boiling water, close them and turn them upside down.

The proportions for 6 pots are:

· 600 g of linden flowers

· 3 liters of water

· 800 to 1000 g of sugar, depending on your taste

· Juice of 1 to 2 lemons, depending on size

· 4 g of agar agar, diluted in 4 tablespoons of water

We will be very happy to have your comments, do not hesitate to send them to us 😊

If you have a lot of flowers, you can also freeze them, and use them throughout the year, they will have much more flavor than if you let them dry, and the effect is guaranteed!

These golden flowers bloom a few days a year, they are real offerings, rare and precious, which we wait patiently all year round at TiL to concoct for you all our natural, ultra-effective and sensory treatments.

From our "parc à la française" to your skin…
